PEACE RIVER ALBERTA

GUIDED  RIVER EXPEDITIONS 2018

Connect with Nature.......

Reconnect with yourself.

The MacKenzie - Slave- Peace- Findlay river system is the longest river system in Canada and second only to the Mississippi in North America. This is your opportunity to experience the route that challenged and excited so many explorers and pioneers.

Look up to the towering river hills, gaze at the endless sky, and ponder the enormous mass of moving water that is the Peace River. You will be able to imagine how it felt to be Alex MacKenzie and his voyageurs so long ago. The sense of promise around the next bend. How they let the rhythms of nature guide their movements and habits. How the silence, other than the sounds of the wind, water and wildlife, became a part of them.

WHY  DO A GUIDED TRIP?

Self guided is great for paddlers familiar with the route. However the Peace is generally a wild river, where campsites, stop offs and hiking trails are often difficult to spot from the river. Our paddling guide is certified in Canoe and Kayak instruction and Swift Water Rescue and has extensive knowledge of the river. Trips integrate energetic paddling with floating, short hikes, rest stops and sightseeing into your daily routine. Lots of campfire camaraderie or time to read, do photography or hike yourself as you wish. Meet new people who share your passions. Min 5 guests, Max. 8 guests.

INCLUDED: Canoes or kayaks •High quality meals, snacks and beverages for duration of the trip •All gear for camping and canoeing, except sleeping bags • All accommodation including 2 nights cabin or wall tent and camping tents while on the river • All transfers of guests and gear between Peace River or our PRCO site. NOT INCLUDED: Sleeping bags, 5% GST on charges, gratuities

CLASSIC PEACE RIVER CANOE TRIP (5-Day)

Alexander MacKenzie travelled up the Peace River in 1792 in his search for the Northwest passage to the orient. He overwintered at Fort Fork, a North West Company fur trading post southwest of the town of Peace River, proceeding on to the Pacific coast in 1793.  We’ll make it easy for you by going down river, but still letting your imagination relive this feat from the seat of a canoe or kayak.

Enjoy gourmet meals including voyageur favourites with a modern twist: bannock, bison jerky, wild cranberry bread, Saskatoon treats, elk liver pate and more! Also featuring local produce as available. 5 days allows for true immersion in nature; your everyday concerns will melt away. Wildlife sighting opportunities, paddling skills, hiking, photography, and campfire camaraderie are the focus of this trip. (Note: kayaking option may be available if sufficient gear space is available in remaining canoes.) Suitable for beginners. Minimum 4 participants.
